Hello Family 🙏,

Not because you don’t talk about it, means that you are not about it and Apple knows that. Apple doesn’t talk about AI, but they are all about it, we share what they have been doing “about it.” We also dive into why AI will not slow down especially because few nations are leading the way, but the world is big and many other nations are thirsty to adopt it. We have more tools for you and also a great discount for the best AI Conference. Let’s go…

🍎 Apple has been investing in generative AI tech ‘for years’

In recent interviews, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that Apple has been researching generative AI for years, signaling the company's growing investment in the technology. This contrasts with Cook's previous avoidance of discussing generative AI specifically. The comments come as Apple's R&D spending hit $22.6 billion in Q3 2023, up $3.1 billion year-over-year, indicating increased investment in AI R&D. Reports suggest Apple is testing an internal generative chatbot and may make a major announcement related to generative AI next year. While details remain limited, Cook's disclosures point to Apple having major generative AI initiatives underway.

⏩ Why AI Progress Is Unlikely to Slow Down

The capabilities of AI systems have rapidly advanced in the past decade due to increases in compute (from 700,000 operations for 1957's Perceptron to 21 septillion for 2022's GPT-4), data (from 6 data points to 1 billion), and algorithms (doubling compute efficiency every 9 months).

Experts expect this trajectory to continue as companies spend more on training AI, available data expands until potentially plateauing around 2026, and algorithms maximize compute and data efficiency. For example, OpenAI's GPT-4 cost over $100 million to train on massive datasets. If progress continues, advanced AI capabilities could be widely accessible in 2-3 years, raising concerns about misuse in areas like cybersecurity and biology among others.

🔥 Google will ‘supercharge’ Assistants

Google plans to update its Assistant voice AI with new capabilities powered by generative AI and large language models similar to ChatGPT and Bard.

As part of the changes, Google is condensing the Assistant team and laying off dozens of employees. The updated Assistant could potentially answer questions by gleaning information from across the web, like ChatGPT. Google stated they are excited to explore how large language models can "supercharge" assistants and make them better. However, it's unclear when the new generative AI-powered Assistant will launch, and privacy implications remain a concern. While details are limited, Google appears committed to leveraging the latest generative AI to significantly enhance its smart assistant technology.
