🔌 ChatGPT Plugins
OpenAI has extended its ChatGPT chatbot to interact with external data and services through plugins. ChatGPT can now search for real-time information, order groceries, and book travel, turning it into an app platform that could challenge the iPhone. (ooh and apparently there are hidden plugins 🤫)
we are starting our rollout of ChatGPT plugins.
you can install plugins to help with a wide variety of tasks. we are excited to see what developers create!

The move could pose a threat to Google's search revenue and Apple's App Store monopoly. ChatGPT could become the preferred choice for businesses and consumers as it offers an all-in-one solution that provides price comparisons, makes reservations, and offers personalized recommendations, among others. Language models are gaining traction, and with investment and cost declines, their capabilities could increase two-hundred-fold over the next three years, equivalent to the iPhone's performance gain since its launch.
Bet Microsoft ships a phone built around AI by the end of the year.
(Look out, Apple / Google).

Naval, as seen above, as well as other tech founders and investors are starting to share their thoughts and concerns about the rapid change of AI.
Microsoft's investments in OpenAI have given it an edge in the language-generating artificial intelligence (AI) space. Bing, Microsoft's search engine, has tripled its user base in three months, but it still lags far behind Google's market dominance. Apple is reportedly experimenting with language-generating AI, and while no concrete developments have been confirmed, the company has around 80 job openings for AI-related positions.
🧰 AI Tools of the week
Palette.fm - Colors any black and white pictures
Podsqueeze.com - Autogenerate notes, tweets, timestamps for your podcasts, and more.
Tubetldr.com - Summarize Youtube videos.
Lexii - AI search assistant that can answer questions.
Komo - Search leverages generative AI to put your search journeys first, instead of a laundry list of links.
Metaphor - Web search using the same ideas behind DALL-E and Stable Diffusion. It understands language — in the form of prompts — so you can say what you're looking for in all the expressive and creative ways you can think of.
AskNow - Ask popular people anything and the AI will generate a response in their style.
⚔️ Bard vs. ChatGPT
After gaining access to Google's generative AI chatbot, Bard, I discovered that it is designed to compete with similar services offered by OpenAI and others.
Like other advanced chatbots, Bard is powered by a large language model (LLM) that uses advanced deep learning algorithms.
It is a lightweight variant of LaMDA, Google's primary natural-language processing model. It may be unfair to compare Bard to ChatGPT since it is the first Google LLM to be publicly accessible, resulting in a clunky design, limited chat features, and some errors.
When I asked Bard to generate a Python program that could scrape a website for news trends based on user input, it was unable to comply. In contrast, ChatGPT was able to provide the code immediately. I found that I needed to be very specific with my prompt to get Bard to generate the Python code I was looking for.
Google has access to a wealth of data that it can use to train its LLMs and further improve its capabilities. As AI competition heats up, users stand to benefit from the continued advancements in natural language processing technology. It's an exciting time for the field of AI, and the race to create the most advanced chatbot is far from over. With each new breakthrough, we move closer to a future where AI-powered chatbots can effortlessly understand and respond to our needs, ushering in a new era of communication and convenience.
