Atlassian, best known for its popular Jira, Confluence, and Trello software, has introduced Atlassian Intelligence, a virtual teammate powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and built into the Atlassian Cloud platform.
In collaboration with OpenAI, Atlassian Intelligence leverages generative AI technology and over 20 years of data to deduce team collaboration patterns and accelerate work. The technology offers several capabilities, including creating summaries of meeting minutes, drafting content, automating support interactions in Jira Service Management, answering natural language questions about company policies, and generating insights using data from multiple sources.
The AI-powered virtual teammate can also provide context-specific explanations of terms based on an on-demand dictionary. Atlassian Intelligence aims to empower teams to achieve what's impossible alone and is currently available in early access.

At this year's TED conference in Vancouver, AI was a dominant topic, generating both excitement and fear among the audience.
OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman showcased the capabilities of AI, including ChatGPT's ability to suggest meals, visualize them with DALL-E, create shopping lists, and dissect spreadsheets. Sal Khan highlighted Khan Academy's use of GPT for tutoring and teaching assistance. However, concerns were raised by Eliezer Yudkowsky, who stressed the existential threat of superhuman AI that may act unpredictably, emphasizing that humans do not get unlimited retries to correct mistakes.
Yejin Choi called for AI systems to be taught common sense and human values, which are currently lacking in large language models. Alexandr Wang warned of AI's role in warfare and the need for the U.S. and its allies to harness it. Although AI has the potential to address significant challenges, it also poses subtle threats, including job displacement and social inequity. The optimism and fears voiced at the conference reflect the dual nature of AI's impact on society.

đź’° Snap Adds 3M Paying Users to AI-Enhanced Service (link)
Snap Inc. has garnered over 3 million subscribers for its Snapchat+ service, a $3.99-per-month subscription that offers early access to features, including the My AI chatbot powered by OpenAI’s GPT technology.
Snapchat+ was launched last year and saw significant growth, particularly after introducing the My AI feature in February. Snap CEO Evan Spiegel expressed surprise at the rapid subscriber growth and aims for Snapchat+ to reach 10 million users. The company announced that My AI features will soon be accessible to all users, not just subscribers. While Snapchat+ adds less than $150 million to Snap's revenue, the company is exploring new ways to generate income amid declining ad revenue and is considering sharing ad revenue with creators who post Stories publicly.
Snapchat+ is available in several countries, including the US, UK, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates.
