Hollywood is becoming more AIntense and not necessarily in a good way, but anthropic, a ChatGPT competitor is searching for ways to make Ai more inclusive, honest, and reflective of worldviews. 🤓 Does Ai Think As We Do? Evaluating Global Alignment

Researchers at Anthropic developed a method to evaluate how well large language models like ChatGPT reflect diverse global opinions, not just the biases of the model developers.

  • They created a dataset called GlobalOpinionQA with survey questions and answers from people in different countries.

  • Designed a metric to quantify how closely model responses match human answers by country.

  • Tested a model intended to be helpful, honest, and harmless.

  • The goal is to measure if models represent a variety of global perspectives or are skewed towards certain viewpoints.

  • This work aims to guide the creation of inclusive AI that serves people worldwide, not just programmer biases.

🖼️ Stability AI's New Feature Makes Your Sketches Come to Life. (link)

Stability AI is all over the news these days. On the negative side, they are being sued by a cofounder (more on it below), but they are also releasing great features.

They just launched a new sketch-to-image AI service called Stable Doodle. Users can turn sketches into rendered images by providing a drawing and text prompt. Stable Doodle aims to give more control over image generation compared to other tools. The service utilizes Stability's Stable Diffusion tech paired with Tencent ARC's technology to better understand sketches.

I have been playing with it and love it so far, see my amazing drawing on the upper left box, and prompt output on the other three. I feel like it can definitely motivate users to draw more and push the boundaries and options after loading their doodles on the app. Stable Doodle is Stability AI's latest attempt to boost revenue as it seeks new funding.

Canadian E-commerce platform Shopify is launching an AI assistant called "Sidekick." Sidekick will answer merchant questions about sales and help update their Shopify stores as well as provide valuable realtime financial information to help clients thrive.

The chatbot follows other companies like Alibaba and Zoom releasing AI assistants recently. Shopify aims to provide merchants with helpful insights and easy store management. Check the announcement here.

❌ Actors say Hollywood studios want their AI replicas — for free, forever.

  • SAG-AFTRA actors are going on strike starting tonight over the use of AI likenesses.

  • The studios proposed letting background actors be scanned once for perpetual AI usage of their likeness for only a day's pay.

  • SAG-AFTRA revealed this proposal and compared it to Black Mirror. The studios deny perpetual use without consent.

  • Generative AI is a major sticking point in the actors and writers’ strikes against studios.

  • SAG-AFTRA says actors could be replaced by machines without standing up for themselves now.
