OpenAI New Safety Committee Will Delay GPT-5

OpenAI announced a new "Safety and Security Committee" to oversee risk management, featuring CEO Sam Altman. This move follows recent PR setbacks and marks the start of training a new AI model aimed at achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI). Critics argue AGI is still distant.

The committee will refine safety processes and provide updates within 90 days. Despite rumors, GPT-5 may not arrive soon, with progress in AI capabilities appearing to plateau around GPT-4 levels.

The Great AI Challenge: Testing Top Bots.

A team of researchers tested five AI chatbots—ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity—on everyday tasks to see how they perform.

Using $20-a-month paid versions, the bots were tested across various categories, including health, finance, cooking, work writing, creative writing, summarization, current events, coding, and speed. Editors and columnists crafted prompts, and responses were judged blindly for accuracy, helpfulness, and quality.

Perplexity emerged as the overall winner, optimized for conciseness and essential components. Each chatbot has unique strengths and weaknesses, and its capabilities will continue to improve as AI technology evolves.

I stick to ChatGPT and Perplexity. Perplexity provides results with sources and supports continued conversation. I've honestly replaced Googling with "Perplexiting," which may not be catchy, but it's been more effective for me, especially on my mobile.
