Claude AI Now Uses Computers Like a Human.
Claude 3.5 Sonnet can now interact with computers, moving cursors, clicking, and typing, a major breakthrough in AI. This capability, currently in public beta, allows AI to use any software like a person, expanding its potential applications. Trained to interpret screen images and count pixels, Claude generalizes its learning quickly but still faces challenges with speed and complex tasks. Safety measures are in place to prevent misuse, and developers can try the feature and provide feedback to improve its future capabilities.
Microsoft and OpenAI Offer $10M to Media Outlets for AI Integration.
Microsoft and OpenAI are offering $10 million in grants to select media outlets, including The Seattle Times and The Minnesota Star Tribune, to integrate AI tools for newsroom tasks like analysis and engagement. The funding includes cash and software credits for hiring AI fellows. This initiative comes as both companies face lawsuits from publishers, including The New York Times, for using content without consent. The program aims to enhance journalism with AI while ensuring the role of reporters remains central. More grants will be given to additional media outlets soon.

The Future of 3D Metal Printing Faster and Affordable.
Freeform, backed by $14 million from Nvidia and Boeing, is developing a new metal 3D printing process to overcome industry challenges of complexity, cost, and imprecision. Co-founders Erik Palitsch and TJ Ronacher, former SpaceX engineers, identified problems with quality, speed, and cost that have slowed adoption of metal 3D printing at scale. By offering the process as a service, Freeform aims to make metal printing more practical and transformative across industries like construction and metals. Their AI-driven technology could enable faster, cheaper, and more precise production, reducing waste, allowing for complex designs, and supporting localized manufacturing.
