OpenAI Soars to $80 Billion Valuation, Riding the ChatGPT Wave

OpenAI's valuation has skyrocketed to over $80 billion in a new deal led by Thrive Capital, up massively from $27 billion just 6 months ago. Napster all over Again - Labels Suing AI Companies.

Universal Music, ABKCO, and Concord Publishing have filed a lawsuit against AI startup Anthropic, accusing them of using copyrighted song lyrics without permission to train their chatbot Claude. 

The music publishers say Anthropic took "massive amounts" of lyrics from over 500 songs, including hits like "Uptown Funk" and "Halo", to develop Claude's natural language capabilities infringing copyright law. Anthropic, is now facing legal action for allegedly using the song lyrics without authorization from the rights holders.

We have seen this before during the era of Napster and file sharing, just to be solved by Steve Jobs and iTunes. Tech will not stop evolving and we will soon see synergies between AI and labels to evolve the marriage between art and tech.
