🙏🏻 Grateful for…
There are some serious technological advancements that will make 2023 a revolutionary year. These tech leaps will change the way we interact with everything we do, from our work to our social lives, the way we shop, our healthcare, education, and entertainment among many other aspects. This week we will expand on three. Here we go…
🧠 The explosion of Artificial Intelligence
There has been a lot of talk about “The rise of Artificial Intelligence.” ChatGPT has been in the news since its release in November 2022 for its revolutionary chatbot features that have captured the world's attention.
Basically, as its acronym indicates, Generative Pre-training Transformer, ChatGPT is a generative language model based on the 'transformer' architecture. These models can process large amounts of text and learn to perform natural language processing tasks very effectively. If you have not used it yet, by any means, give it a try. Have a chat and ask for the most random tasks and the most difficult equations and you will be surprised how accurate it is. ChatGPT is an AI tool that is far from perfect, but playing with it, will allow you to realize its potential and how the world is about to change very fast.
It can code in any computer language by taking text commands as input. This puts the programmer’s future in question. It can draft and review contracts, write essays (college students love this feature), write music, create content, solve and explain complex mathematical equations, and much more.
As of now, you need to type your queries in order to get the most out of this AI tech, but soon you will be able to have a conversation with these chatbots, they will be able to create images, videos, music, and virtual realities at the command of your voice. Talk about a true assistant.
There are hundreds of AI Tools available today and many more are in development.
Here you will find 100+ AI Tools you wished you had.
Amazing thread. Thanks @mishadavinci

🔗 Rise of Web3 & The Metaverse
Apple is rumored to have a secret team of hundreds of employees working on virtual and augmented reality projects.
All major corporations are investing heavily in the metaverse in order to get a piece of the $13 trillion dollar pie that Citibank says it will be worth by 2030.
As Peter Diamandis put it: “While Web2 allowed us to transfer data in the form of documents, photos, and videos, Web3 will emerge as the internet of value, built on blockchain, NFTs, DAOs, and the metaverse allowing us to transmit ownership. The metaverse is a social and ownership layer on the internet, providing self-sovereign identity, and connecting people, places, and things. It provides guaranteed authenticity and chain of title (ownership) across time and space via blockchain.”
Commerce in the metaverse will be negotiated via NFTs, using cryptocurrencies as a form of payment, DAOs will be the bodies organizing trade in the verse, as most of us will connect using headsets, glasses, rings, watches, and perhaps soon implantable brain-computer interfaces (BCI).
🗺️ Global Connectivity
Any of the above trends will not be possible without global connectivity. The deployment of global 5G paired with the exponential growth of satellite use for connectivity will help large packets of data travel faster than we can imagine.
As of November 2022, there are 3,271 Starlink satellites in orbit, of which 3,236 are operational, according to Astronomer Jonathan McDowell who tracks the constellation. In total, 8261 individual satellites are orbiting the Earth now, out of which 4,852 satellites are active.
Certain areas of the world have experienced economical leaps due to ubiquitous global connectivity and cheaper access to technology. Some African nations have been able to skip certain steps (e.g. dial-up, LTE cell phone connections, Desktop use) and go straight for 5G connections and cell phone use, facilitating the launch of startups, payment processes, and access to education in remote areas.
Additionally, the IoE (Internet of Everything) is well… everywhere. Sensors are allowing machines to feel, hear, see, communicate, and smell. All sensor data can be organized, manipulated, and make sense of in order to improve products and services, traffic jams, safety, minimize waste, and get us closer to autonomous vehicles, and why not, autonomous industries.
This sounds very utopian and it is, but as the patterns and trends indicate, this is the world that we are heading towards. This will not develop without caveats:
The computer power necessary to have billions of sensors and devices connected, capturing data, and sending it to servers is astronomical. On top of that, in today’s world, lots of data come in the form of images and videos that demand unimaginable rendering power and we are not there yet.
Cybersecurity is a big issue. As we move to a digital world where machines perform most of the tasks and communicate with each other, digital security becomes a major problem that we have not figured out. Criminals are not out in the physical world anymore, they are very safe in remote areas using the latest technology and using automation as well in order to maximize their crimes with the less risk possible.
