Hollywood Embraces AI as Lionsgate Partners with Runway.

Lionsgate, the studio behind "John Wick" and "The Hunger Games," has partnered with AI startup Runway to integrate generative AI into its film production process. In exchange for a custom-built AI model, Lionsgate will provide Runway with access to its vast content library.

The studio plans to use AI for tasks like storyboarding and special effects, potentially saving millions in production costs. While the use of AI in Hollywood has been controversial, this deal represents a major step forward. Lionsgate may also explore licensing the model to other studios, signaling a broader trend of AI adoption in the entertainment industry. As a pioneer in this space, Lionsgate could benefit from licensing revenue, and this could trigger a wave of partnerships between AI companies and movie, and even music studios. We may also see studios developing their own AI tools to streamline production and marketing. The landscape of the industry is poised for significant change.

Apple Intelligence, now in public beta, is available with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. It offers generative AI features like advanced writing tools, including text rewriting and summarizing, and a revamped Siri with improved interaction and product knowledge capabilities. Notable additions include Clean Up for Photos, similar to Google's Magic Eraser, and enhanced search functions.
