OpenAI Unveils Advanced Voice with Vision.

OpenAI's 12 Days of AI continues with a major update: Advanced Voice with Vision. This upgrade allows ChatGPT to see and interact with the world in real-time while you speak, enabling natural, human-like video conversations. The feature also introduces screen sharing, so you can show ChatGPT apps, troubleshoot issues, or seek advice on messages. This advanced feature can be troublesome as you can film anything out there in the world and get deep information by asking the model what is observing.

Key highlights include:

  • Vision Integration: ChatGPT can recognize people, objects, and processes, like guiding you through cooking and perhaps fixing things around the house step-by-step.

  • Screen Sharing: Share your phone screen, and ChatGPT can identify apps or content to assist you.

  • Santa Voice: A festive Santa-themed voice is available throughout December, complete with a charming British accent.

This update is rolling out to Teams, Plus, and Pro users on the ChatGPT mobile app (excluding Europe). Advanced Voice with Vision marks a major step toward fully multimodal AI experiences, rivaling Google's Project Astra.

Amazon AI is Catching Up and Excelling.

Amazon introduced three new Large Language Models (LLMs) called Amazon Nova at AWS re:Invent, available in Micro, Lite, and Pro versions. These models are affordable, with Nova Micro undercutting Google’s Gemini 1.5 Flash-8B, and support multi-modal tasks like handling images, video, and PDFs (except Nova Micro). Nova Pro competes with high-end models from OpenAI and Google. The models offer strong capabilities, including large context token limits and multi-modal inputs, though they lack audio processing. Amazon’s pricing and features position it as a major competitor in the AI market, with more advanced versions coming in 2025.
