European defense start-up Helsing has successfully tested its AI software flying a Gripen E fighter jet over the Baltic Sea, signaling that uncrewed fighter jets could be operational within a few years.
This is the result of world leaders solving all their issues with war and prioritizing the so-called āDefenseā companies and āDefenseā budgets. The companyās AI, Centaur, achieved the equivalent of 1 million flight hours in 72 hours, vastly surpassing human capabilities. While a human safety pilot was present during tests, Helsing envisions a future where AI-assisted and fully autonomous jets coexist, gradually shifting the roles of pilots. Backed by ā¬600 million in funding (including from Spotifyās Daniel Ek), Helsing is also supplying 10,000 drones to Ukraine, although some have criticized its performance and cost.
