🚨 I was in Palm Beach this weekend for a board meeting and happened to land just as Air Force One did—and left right when it did, too. I witnessed airport chaos from its arrival and departure for Trump's golf trip. On his 69th day back in office, Trump played his 14th golf round at his West Palm Beach club—his 18th golf day total (over 25% of his time in office).

GAO estimates from his first term show taxpayers paying $26 million for these trips. At this pace, his golf habit could cost $552 million over 4 years—do you know what that money could do for America's youth instead? I ran the numbers.

OpenAI to release an Open Model.

OpenAI will release an open-weight AI model this summer, CEO Sam Altman announced, marking a shift toward openness amid pressure from rivals like DeepSeek and Meta's Llama. The model will support local use, allow customization, and is designed with safety in mind, following OpenAI’s Preparedness Framework. Developers can apply for early access, and events with prototypes are planned. The move reflects the growing industry momentum behind open-weight models.

Why Meta Wants You to Spend $1400 on Sunglasses.

Meta plans to launch its first smart glasses with a built-in screen, code-named Hypernova, by the end of 2025, priced between $1,300 and $1,400. The glasses will feature a monocular display embedded in the lower right of the right lens, allowing users to view photos, apps, and notifications. They will support touch-based navigation on the temple and gesture control via a bundled neural wristband called Ceres.

Designed to rival smartphones, the device will run a custom Android OS, lack an onboard app store, and integrate with the Meta View app. Key apps include a camera, maps, Messenger, and WhatsApp, with upgraded camera performance comparable to the iPhone 13.

Meta is positioning Hypernova as an omnipresent data collection platform, similar to Tesla's vehicles with their eight continuously active cameras gathering invaluable information. While the glasses carry a premium price tag, Meta's true profit strategy likely centers on harvesting vast amounts of user data from thousands of wearers rather than device sales alone. This aligns with the broader tech industry's insatiable appetite for consumer data as their most valuable commodity.
