Who Owns Actor’s AI Replicas?

Hollywood is on the brink of a revolution with AI digital doubles. These digital replicas, created by scanning an individual's body, movement, face, and voice, are changing the film industry.

Metaphysic's new tool, Metaphysic Pro, is pivotal in this transformation. It enables talents like Tom Hanks and Octavia Spencer to create and copyright their digital likeness. This technology not only allows for the creation of lifelike doubles but also provides control over the use of one's digital identity.

With Hollywood stars and agencies like CAA leading the way, the potential of AI in entertainment is immense. However, this advancement brings ethical and legal challenges, especially regarding the ownership and usage of these digital likenesses. Do companies that create your AI replica own it, or do you own it by default? As many issues with AI where the rules have yet to be defined, lawyers and tech companies seem to be the first winners, but all of us must be ready for a world where everyone has an AI replica just like we currently have an SM persona which data can be monetized by others.

Apple to Play the AI Game Differently.

It would be naive to think that Apple is behind in the AI race just because they are not rushing to deploy AI tech every other day and are very private about their developments. But as a tech leader with more than two billion active devices Worldwide and plans to spend $1 billion annually on developing its generative artificial intelligence products, we can see that may be able to have a comfortable space in the AI revolution in no time. They are also known for playing the game differently, by being different.

Apple is intensifying its efforts in artificial intelligence, aiming to match its Big Tech rivals. Their latest research, "LLM in a Flash," focuses on running large language models directly on iPhones, a shift from cloud-based AI. This approach could enhance AI response speed, allow offline functionality, and improve privacy. Apple's move, amidst a broader industry trend toward AI-enabled smartphones, signals a catch-up strategy in the generative AI space, diverging from competitors like Microsoft and Google who rely on cloud computing for AI services. This development could revitalize the smartphone market and lead to new features and user experiences.

What will AI bring to the History of Marketplaces?

As 2023 concludes, Generative AI (GenAI) is significantly reshaping marketplace business models. On the demand side, AI enhancements are improving user experiences with new search methods like natural language and image-based searches. On the supply side is more nuanced. For digital and commodity-based marketplaces like Upwork and Fiverr, AI poses a challenge as it can replicate their offerings, prompting these platforms to consider adapting to AI-native suppliers or developing their own AI solutions. Conversely, digital, personalized platforms such as Cameo or Patreon may benefit from AI in content creation, though it raises questions about authenticity.

For physical commodities, AI's influence is less disruptive but aids in operational efficiency. Marketplaces with physical, personalized products will see benefits in seller efficiency, with AI tools aiding in listing and description processes, as well as the streamlining in the production side thanks to AI acceleration and perfection in design, machine technology, and distribution, thereby enhancing visibility and sales.

Overall, AI is leading to the creation of more dynamic, efficient, and user-friendly marketplaces. This includes increased liquidity, better transaction conversion rates, and more repeat purchases. The landscape is evolving, with some existing marketplaces pivoting to incorporate AI, some becoming obsolete, and new AI-focused platforms emerging.

🤔 What Does that even Mean?

Predictive Analytics: The use of data, statistical algorithms, and machine learning techniques to identify the likelihood of future outcomes based on historical data.

Example: An online retailer analyzes past sales and customer data to predict which products will be popular, aiding in inventory and marketing planning. Today this can be done in real-time and dynamic pricing can be implemented to optimize sales.
